Music Director

Position Summary
The Music Director will serve at the primary administrator of the music ministry of the church.  He/She will be responsible for the planning, organizing, conducting, and evaluation of the comprehensive music ministry. The Music Director will provide variety in the types and styles of music presented, with a balanced blend of contemporary/modern, southern gospel, and traditional hymns. Proper direction will be provided with oversight and coordination of musical, artistic, and technical elements of the worship service. The primary purpose of this position is to facilitate an atmosphere of worship, preparing the congregation to not only hear God’s word but receive it when preached. 
Job Responsibilities
The following is a general list of primary responsibilities of the Music Director:
– Lead the congregation in corporate worship and singing during each church service.
– Lead the congregation in corporate worship and singing during special events such as revivals, concerts, seasonal  
   programs, etc.
– Lead and direct the choir during the Sunday morning and Sunday evening services.
– Lead and direct the choir in preparation for and presentation of annual Christmas and Easter cantatas.
– Conduct choir practice as needed to prepare the choir for the services each week.
– Select and oversee the execution of the musical arrangements used each service for the offering and invitation segments
   of each service. 
– Schedule and oversee the “Musical Specials” for each service.
– Work with volunteer musicians and vocalists to be used during the services for things such as the music during offering,
   special music, and the congregational songs. 
– Oversee the use of the annual music budget in the responsible manner of a good steward of God’s money and property.
Qualifications and Requirements
The Music Director must: be a member of good standing of Grace Free Will Baptist Church, exhibit both spiritual and mental maturity, have the ability to relate to people, exhibit the spiritual gift of pastoral care with a desire to care for the welfare of the church body, and demonstrate the ability to work as a member of the ministry team. Although formal training is not required the Music Director must possess and exhibit a musical background and training, with the ability and experience to read music and lead the congregation in worship. It is essential for the Music Director to have the ability for proper time management. This trait is necessary due to the church services streamed live.
The Music Director does not have to be familiar with the following, but is encouraged to be willing to familiarize themself with the following:
– Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI)
– SongSelect
– Basic Understanding of a digital mixing board
